The Cat Kit

I partnerd up with Alaina Eldridge durring this project. Our plan for it was to create an interactive art that was easy to use and looked interesting. We used a Makey Makey which is an invention that allwos you to connect every day objects to the computer(any object with a charge). We were looking through the Makey Makey Site when we came across their drum kit. We started looking at some objects that were in the class and decided to make a drum kit. we made the drum kit out of tinfoil, a pan, buttons, metal sponge and a wird looking coil thing. after we testd the objects we put it togeather on a peice of crad board. There was alot of trial and error but we finally got it to work. I was actually on my way to a hockey tournemnt when I though we need to add something to make it cool and interesting to look at. My cats had been annoying me that morning so I thought hey lets put cats on it and call it the Cat Kit! This video bellow shows the procces of how we created the Cat Kit.

Interactive Art

What is Interactive Art?

Interactive art is a form of art that involves the spectator in a way that allows the art to achieve its purpose. Some interactive art installations achieve this by letting the observer or visitor "walk" in, on, and around them; some others ask the artist to become part of the artwork.

Interactive Art is more then that. Its allowing people to experince art. I learned anything can be interactive art such as The Nike Flyknit Collective Installation. It is a play ground made of Nike's shoe fabric built in an artistic way. The walkable Rooler Coster was another interactive art I came across durring my resarch. It is a rollercoster that you can litterly walk. While doing my resarch I noticed there isn't really any limits to interactive art. Nike created a playground with their shoe materials I think you can really make anything into interactive art. I also relized that interactive art is probably one of the only forms of art that you can really touch an experience.

(I really want to see this!)

Our over all plan was to make a fun peice of interactive art that people would notice. But when our class voted us as one of the best and we showed our Makey Makey to the school in the lobey we got an amazing reaction. Some of the specil education students were walking by and had fun with our Makey Makey. Ours was easy enough for them to use unlike the other which were complicated games from online. The one girl who walked by was so shy to try it but she got into it once she started hitting the drum kit and making funny sounds with the site. In the future I would probably plan my Makey Makey like this one that any one can use and get such a positive attitude. Although are plan to make it noticble worked because everyone came over to see what the cat get up was and bang on it a couple of times :) .
